The Senate Judiciary Committee voted 17-5 on Thursday to forward to the full Senate the nomination of Winston & Strawn partner Katherine Vidal to be director of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Democratic Sen. Jon Ossoff joined Republican Sens. Mike Lee, Ted Cruz, Josh Hawley and John Kennedy in voting no following just a few minutes of discussion.
