Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati’s D.C. office has become home to the Federal Trade Commission’s former associate director of the Division of Privacy and Identity Protection, Maneesha Mithal, the firm announced Monday.

Mithal, a 22-year veteran of the commission, was instrumental in developing the U.S. government’s approach to privacy and cybersecurity. She supervised a 40-person legal team at the FTC for 10 years, developing policy and enforcing the law as it pertained to privacy and cybersecurity, putting her at the forefront of government regulation and policy on emerging areas such as artificial intelligence, facial recognition, biometrics and connected cars, as well as health privacy, children’s privacy, ransomware and the intersection of privacy and competition.
