Judge David Hamilton of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit will take senior status upon confirmation of his successor, creating a second vacancy on the court for the Biden administration.

In an email, Hamilton confirmed his plans to take senior status and that he becomes eligible for the semi-retirement classification in May 2022. To take senior status, judges must be at least 65 years old and have completed at least 15 years of active service.
