The number of proposed class actions over a large oil spill off the coast of Orange County is up to 12, with prominent plaintiff firms setting the stage for a leadership battle that already includes at least one push for individual representation.

Bentley & More in Newport Beach is the latest to sue Texas-based Amplify Energy Corp. over the spill, which disrupted businesses and events and closed beaches and harbors after it was publicly reported in early October.
