Tell us about your biggest client wins this year. A $68 million verdict in which the plaintiffs uncovered that a heart surgeon knowingly left the surgery early to attend a business meeting and refused to return as the situation deteriorated, resulting in the patient suffering a devastating brain injury. Heimberg Barr is particularly proud of this victory; not only did [the firm] surpass by more than three times the previous record in California history for a medical malpractice verdict, but also, [it was] able to uncover and stop a system that allowed the surgeon to cause severe harm.

What’s the best lesson you learned as a young lawyer? Although intellectual preparation is necessary, passion for the case and caring deeply about your clients is critical to victory.
