Programs to help graduates in low-paying public interest jobs repay their student loans are common at law schools. Northwestern University School of Law will become the first with a dedicated program providing such help to graduates in modestly salaried private sector jobs.

Under its new Interest Freedom Plan, Northwestern will cover student loan interest payments for 2015 graduates for up to one year, provided they work in private sector jobs paying less than $85,000.
