U.S. District Chief Judge Colleen McMahon of the Southern District of New York clarified Tuesday that there were no plans to reopen the Manhattan district court building, after a federal judge floated the possibility of an in-person hearing early next month.

The comments came one day after U.S. District Judge Edgardo Ramos of the Southern District of New York tentatively scheduled a June 2 preliminary injunction hearing to occur at the court’s Lower Manhattan courthouse. During a telephonic hearing, Ramos said it was “likely” the building would be at least partially reopened by then to allow attorneys to appear for in-person arguments.
