F5 Networks Inc. said last week it would pay $210 million to acquire Acopia Networks Inc., a storage virtualization startup whose technology helps companies store data more efficiently.

Seattle-based F5 said the acquisition will help it move further into virtualization, which has become one of the fastest-growing areas in IT, reflecting the needs of enterprises to streamline increasing volumes of computer equipment and data.
