NBC News has become a whole lot snappier. Snapchattier that is. According to a story by Leslie Kaufman in the New York Times, the broadcast giant has partnered with NowThis News, a start-up that creates news clips as short as six seconds that play over social media applications such as Vine, Instagram and Snapchat.

“NBC’s investment is the latest in a series of deals the company has made in an effort to keep pace with the vast changes in how people consume news,” writes Kaufman. NowThis is funded by Kenneth Lerer of the Huffington Post and the current chairman of BuzzFeed. Though it’s not clear how much money exchanged hands, NBC will get a roughly 10 percent stake of the start-up and the right to use its videos on networks and shows. For its part, NowThis gets access to NBC producers and the network’s footage.
