On Wednesday, 322 federal practitioners spent the day at Georgetown Law for the school’s first e-discovery program designed by and for federal practitioners. "E-Discovery for Federal Government Practitioners" was jointly produced by the Electronic Discovery Institute and Georgetown Law CLE. The topic definitely drew interest, as we had to turn away another 275 wait-listed people due to space restrictions.

The highlight of the day-long event was a plenary session on ethics, by federal Magistrate Judge John Facciola, from the District of Columbia. Facciola discussed one of his favorite topics: that all attorneys must educate themselves about technology in order to meet their ethical obligations to clients. "The notion of just hanging a shingle and not taking time to understand the technology runs afoul with the (ethics) rules.”
