Divorce is a harrowing process on nearly every level, from the emotional down to the legal. While attorneys help potential divorcees get the best protection for their assets and children as they exit their marriages, legal technologists are hoping to shift divorce proceedings to better assist the family as a whole.

Kate Daly, co-founder of Amicable, developed the idea for the U.K.-based divorce app based on her own experience trying to navigate her divorce while splitting parenting responsibilities, shared assets and a legal process.
