Lawyers in the United States are carefully watching recent events unfold in Brazil over the temporary blockage of messaging service WhatsApp.

In the latest twist, government leaders in Brazil advocated for a proposal that would prevent the blocking of messaging apps. It comes shortly after a judge ordered a temporary block of Facebook’s WhatsApp – which in turn led to an appeals court overturning the blocking. It impacted some 100 million users, according to news reports.
