Big Data is Big Business—one survey says that information governance is the second-largest priority for organizations, following only data security. With that in mind, it makes sense that Big Data and related customer service companies would want to do everything possible to protect their proprietary information, even going to the lengths of patent litigation if necessary.

Big Data and predictive analytics company [24]7 has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against competitor LivePerson, Inc., claiming that LivePerson infringed upon four patents owned by the company. The Silicon Valley-based company filed the lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, and the company seeks damages and an injunction.
