Based on results from a 2013 survey conducted by the American Bar Association’s Legal Technology Resource Center, 70 percent of large law firm respondents reported that they were unaware of a data security breach within their firm.

Data threats against law firms can be generated from internal or external sources. A recent example of a security breach on the Internet is the “Heartbleed Bug” virus that hacks users passwords, personal and financial information such as credit card numbers used on popular sites like Google and Yahoo.
