A well-known privacy group, the Electronic Privacy Information Center, has filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission in connection with a 2012 study by Facebook, in which the company manipulated the news feeds of almost 700,000 users to see how the changes would impact their emotions.

According to a story on The New York Times Bits blog by Vindu Goel, EPIC alleges Facebook deceived its users and violated the terms of a 2012 consent decree with the FTC.
