Technology is changing at unprecedented rates and our requirement for speedy access to data is more intense than ever. Working in IT for 27 years, I’ve seen one constant throughout all of these advancements — the need for more data storage and increased performance. Law firms with all of their practice-specific applications see this need more than many industries.

As operating systems, business productivity suites, and legal applications continue to expand functions, interoperability, and size, the need for faster computers with bigger hard drives is topping the list of priorities. Consider the following: the minimum disk requirement for a basic Windows XP Professional SP3 installation is 750 MB. The latest version of a basic installation of Microsoft’s personal computer operating system, Windows 7, requires about 12 GB of disk space!
