Oracle, known for its structured database software, is now entering the unstructured data field with its acquisition of Endeca Technologies, the companies announced Tuesday.

Terms of the deal, which is expected to be complete by the end of this year, were not disclosed. Industry and financial analysts contacted by Law Technology News estimated that Oracle paid $1 to $2 billion for the Cambridge, Mass. private company.
