Thomas Gelbmann checks in to let us know that the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (www.edrm.net) group has posted its EDRM Model Code of Conduct. Geared at service providers (aka vendors), the MCoC addresses five principles: professionalism, engagement, conflicts of interest, sound process, and security/confidentiality, explains Minnesota’s Gelbmann, of Gelbmann & Associates. Each principle includes corollaries, as well as guidelines and a discussion section.

“These guidelines are aspirational and intentionally carry no enforcement authority,” says Gelbman. “They do, however, shine a light on important issues that should concern participants in the electronic discovery marketplace. Publishing the MCoC starts the conversation. Please keep it going by letting us know your thoughts.”
