McAfee of Santa Clara, Calif., sells anti-virus, security, and encryption software for home computers and businesses. McAfee has 6,150 employees and annual revenues of about $2 billion. The company was founded in 1989 and went public in 1992. In 2006, the company agreed to pay $50 million to settle a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission investigation into its accounting practices.
