The average attorney probably defaults to Internet Explorer, but with the recently released Opera 7.5, there truly is reason to experiment with another Web browser. Opera Software, the little Norwegian company that could, has been plying its alternative browser for years now. This latest version adds features that should make even the most complacent surfer raise an eyebrow.

The search windows built into the top of the browser let you search Google, Amazon, or eBay without the bother of typing in the URL. This is what Opera is all about — faster searching. There are plenty of new add-ons, including Opera Mail, a built-in e-mail client; a contact database; a newsreader; automatic filtering; a spellchecker and rich site summary (RSS) newsfeeds. But the features I find most useful are in the browsing itself.
