As Microsoft Corp. employees grow increasingly aware of global climate change and the scarcity of resources, so too do our expectations that our leaders aggressively seek ways to reduce our company’s environmental footprint.

More than 39,000 people (less than half of Microsoft’s global employees) work at our 500-acre corporate campus, located in Redmond, Wash., a suburb of Seattle. The environmental impact of those commuters is substantial, and includes fuel consumption, greenhouse gas emissions and physical logistics such as parking and traffic capacity.
