Q What’s the worst mistake you’ve ever made (or seen) in a presentation using Microsoft’s PowerPoint? Of course, everybody knows that mistake #1 is to cram a book’s worth of material in 6-point type onto a single slide (which a surprising number of otherwise-excellent speakers still do). But what else? And what’s the best PowerPoint you’ve ever seen?

A. One of the best I’ve ever seen was delivered by Dick Hardt, CEO of Sxip Identity, as the keynote speaker at the 2005 O’Reilly Open Source Convention. Fast-paced, relevant, minimal text, great graphics, well-rehearsed and thoroughly entertaining. I built a similar presentation based on his style and had a blast delivering it.
