While corporate legal departments’ awareness of the legal tech market is increasing, the depth of knowledge regarding the sector’s offerings is fairly shallow. Still, general counsel and consultants say that such knowledge may grow as legal ops functions become more widespread and corporate attorneys turn to their peers, and even law firms, to help them navigate the legal tech landscape.

The main culprit hindering corporate legal departments’ understanding of legal tech is limited resources, said Claudia Cantarella, chief legal officer at fintech solutions developer Broadway Technology.
