Dedicated, standalone knowledge management platforms may be taking a back seat as legal departments look to capture data at the source. And in the age of remote working, that source may increasingly look like document management systems or even collaboration tools such as Yammer or Sharepoint that act as a central hub of accumulated and easily referenced information.

Legal departments are finding that document tools can be critical for organizational knowledge. “I think that in itself is actually a very difficult concept outside of let’s say a document management system to facilitate buckets of information. But that simplicity might be the ultimate key,” said Jack Thompson, assistant director of global e-discovery and legal operations at Sanofi, said.
