As both the procedures and litigation surrounding data retention and discovery continue to change, enterprises are faced with the task of keeping pace. Microsoft Office 365 Groups, a service that establishes sets of permissions specific to designated teams, now offers new support capabilities for helping enterprises stay within compliance while protecting information.

Microsoft announced these abilities as “enhancements for administering 365 Groups” to support IT’s need “to be able to easily manage groups, gain insights into their use, control their directories and ensure compliance of group data.” In relation to compliance and protection, Office 365 supports the ability for organizations to perform e-discovery and litigation holds on group mailboxes as well as group files. Users can also use these supports to perform audits.
