We all know the statistics: recruitment at trainee level is equal between women and men. Yet the number of women at partnership level remains low. It is a path that usually lasts no longer than 10 years but along the way almost two-thirds of women fall by the wayside.

For too long we have been hoping that it is merely a question of the increased recruitment of women working its way through the system, but clearly this is not the case. The cost to the business of losing so many talented lawyers is enormous, which is why every firm is looking for solutions.
