I am getting married at the beginning of August and I have an interview at the end of August for a training contract commencing August 2008. I am wondering whether or not it will affect my chances of success in obtaining a training contract if the firm finds out I am newly married.

I have heard stories of certain firms finding out that a female applicant is married or ‘settling down’ and then rejecting that applicant because they were worried that she would not be dedicated enough to the job. Does this really happen?
