clifford chance: asked to clarify endesa roleDeal lawyers are facing up to the spectre of tactical ‘conflict shopping’ in the surging Spanish deal market as it emerges that Clifford Chance’s (CC’s) role on the €22bn (£14.8bn) battle for Endesa was queried by a client.

CC last month informed the General Council of the Spanish Bar of its role advising Endesa on its defence from Gas Natural’s hostile takeover bid after one of the magic circle firm’s clients, Spanish energy group Iberdrola, queried its role.
