Burges Salmon has tied up its first major corporate transaction for long-standing client Wolseley, advising the UK arm of the FTSEb100-listed construction giant on its £140m buy-out of insulation distributor Encon.

It is understood the Bristol-based firm landed the role ahead of other regular Wolseley UK advisers, including Eversheds andbFreshfields Bruckhaus Deringer. Corporate finance partners Rupert Weston and Alan Barr led on the deal for Burges Salmon with assistance from solicitor Camilla Usher-Clark.
