O’Melveny & Myers has shaken-up its East Coast practice with New York chief John Suydam stepping down as managing partner as the firm bulks up its M&A practice with partner hires from McDermott Will & Emery and Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati.

Suydam, the former chairman of New York firm O’Sullivan, which merged with O’Melveny in 2002, is to step down to focus on the role of head of global transactions. He is being replaced as office head by tax partner Brad Okun.
