Travers Smith and Allen & Overy (A&O) have taken the lead roles on NTL’s disposal of its UK broadcasting division in a deal that also handed roles to New York’s Fried Frank Harris Shriver & Jacobson and Davis Polk & Wardwell.

The deal comprises the sale of NTL’s National Transcommunications and NTL Digital divisions, for £1.27bn, to a consortium led by Australia’s Macquarie Communications Infrastructure Group.
