Shearman & Sterling is set this year to become the first law practice to patent business methods in the firm’s name – in a pioneering move for the US legal market.
Shearmans is hoping that two patent applications filed with the World Intellectual Property Organisation will this year be passed, handing the firm rights over two services developed from working on finance and data management issues for clients.
