Two candidates from international firms have won places on the powerful 36-member Paris Bar Council by a comfortable margin following strong backing from French business lawyers.

The vote, held on 25 and 26 November saw senior Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer partner Yves de Mahenge take fourth position with 2,488 votes and Alain de Foucaud, co-managing partner of the local arm of LeBoeuf Lamb Greene & MacRae, placed fifth with 2,336 votes.
