The law relating to confiscation is notoriously difficult and it is reasonable to assume that without the two previous additions of this work, practitioners would have made many mistakes and provided a good deal of inaccurate advice to clients.

The timing of the third edition was always going to be difficult. There have been so many important developments since 1996 that the second edition was undoubtedly looking tired. On the other hand, the whole regime is about to change again when the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 becomes effective. What to do?
