At first glance, nothing. But they both have a common ancestor: Colin’s grandad founded that British institution The Beano and conceived both Dennis and Colin’s dad.

Spare a moment’s sympathy for poor Lord Irvine of Lairg – his days are apparently filled with tedium that most of us cannot even begin to imagine.
