Three prioritised tranches of notes were issued. Linklaters & Alliance banking partner John Tucker has advised the lead arrangers of a £976m syndicated debt facility to Xstrata Plc, the newly London-listed natural resources company. The original debt financing of £1.4bn was structured on a secured and leveraged basis and then scaled back to £976m on an unsecured basis. Peter Kienast, a partner at Swiss firm Barkarrer, handled the Swiss law aspects of the deal for Xstrata while Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer partner Jeremy Pitkin led a team handling the UK aspects of the transaction.
