City lawyers are pressing the European Commission (EC) to water down its
proposed common takeover code amid concerns that the code could lead major European companies to list abroad.
The surprise row, which sees UK lawyers opposing the same directive they supported for a decade, centres on recommendations this year by a group of legal experts, led by Unilever lawyer Jaap Winter.
