In a move that will return the state Supreme Court to more directly controlling the operations of its largest judicial district, Pennsylvania’s high court appointed a new chair of the board made up of the judicial leaders from all three of the First Judicial District’s courts.

In an order docketed Tuesday, the state Supreme Court appointed Philadelphia Common Pleas Court Judge John W. Herron the chair of the Administrative Governing Board.
