Squire Sanders has hired a new partner for its construction practice in Sydney.

Avendra Singh is joining the U.S. firm from the Sydney office of Melbourne’s Colin Biggers & Paisley. He handles both contentious and non-contentious matters arising in the construction industry.

Singh started his legal career at Colin Biggers in 1987 but left to join the former Phillips Fox as associate in 1996, becoming a partner in 1999. In 2002, he launched his own firm, Avendra Singh & Kam, and then rejoined Colin Biggers as partner in 2008.

With Singh on board, Squire Sanders will have seven lawyers in Sydney, three of whom will be partners. The Cleveland-based firm, which has 1,400 lawyers worldwide, launched its first Australian office in Perth in 2011 and expanded to Sydney last year.
