    Dewey exits continue as corporate team joins DLA Piper in New York

    Dewey & LeBoeuf has seen two more partners leave the firm as a four-strong corporate team departs for DLA Piper in New York, reports The Am Law Daily. The most recent departures, which bring the the total number of partner losses at the firm to 41 so far this year, are partners John Altorelli and Alexander Fraser and counsel Patrick Costello and Gerald Francese. All four are joining DLA as partners.

    Freshfields and A&O advise on UPS's €5bn bid for Dutch shipping company

    Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and Allen & Overy (A&O) have secured lead roles on United Parcel Service's (UPS's) €5.2bn (£4.3bn) bid for Dutch shipping company TNT Express, writes The Am Law Daily. The agreed deal looks set to qualify as the largest acquisition in UPS's 105-year history, greatly expanding the Atlanta-based logistics giant's market share in Europe and providing inroads into China. If approved, the merger will create a logistics company with combined global revenues of around $60bn (£38bn).

The departures include London partners Joseph Ferraro and Nicholas Bugler, as well as three practice leaders in New York - Michael Groll, co-chair of the firm's insurance sector group; John Schwolsky, co-chair of the corporate finance practice group; and Alexander Dye, chair of the firm's US M&A practice.
