A lot of the stuff inbetween was a blur, but I still remember that morning in the spring of 2007 sitting in a generic coffee shop in central London with our division's managing director, contemplating my new job as Legal Week's editor. In many ways, I should be thankful, I suppose, for what followed over the next five years. As a career business journalist, you inevitably want dramatic events to happen to give you something to write about. Three months later the credit crunch hit and I got my wish.
