April 1 was supposed to mark the end of an era in the Indian legal market: the splitting of storied, 100-year-old firm Amarchand & Mangaldas & Suresh A. Shroff & Co. into two separate firms.

But the saga playing out between co-managing partners and feuding brothers Shardul and Cyril Shroff will last at least another month. The Bombay High Court has granted a request filed by both sides to extend their mediation, giving them 30 more days to finish negotiations.
