Over 2,000 lawyers in the U.K. have signed letters either defending or questioning the U.K government’s sales of arms to Israel, and whether, in doing so, it has breached international law. More than 600 lawyers, academics and retired senior judges signed an open letter to U.K. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, warning that the U.K. government was breaching international law by continuing to arm Israel.

However, shortly after, another letter, drafted by campaign group U.K. Lawyers for Israel (UKLFI) and also addressed to Sunak, was published, stating that its signatories are “extremely concerned” by what they describe as the “inaccuracy of the facts and law” in the previous letter.
