From little-noticed cyber cottage industry, the computer games industry has rapidly grown into big business over the last 15 years. Having gone mainstream, the current focus is on how games can tap internet and multiple digital platforms.

“Online gaming is another example of where we are seeing entertainment, social interaction, computer and internet technologies meeting to drive innovation within the games industry and, in turn, leading to a demand for new business models,” says Harbottle & Lewis partner Paul Cairns, who spent nine years as a business affairs executive at Electronic Arts.
