The head of Cobbetts’ national private client team is set to quit the firm to set up his own niche practice in Birmingham, Legal Week can reveal, as the sector continues to consolidate.

Drummond Kerr, who is based at the 137-partner firm’s Birmingham arm, was named national department head when his former firm, the Midlands’ Lee Crowder, merged with Cobbetts in 2003.
