Health insurer Cigna was sued on Sept. 12 in Delaware Court of Chancery in the wake of media reports that the company uses an automated system to deny claims in bulk without review by medical professionals. The lawsuit, brought by Glancy Prongay & Murray and Cooch & Taylor on behalf of a Cigna shareholder, seeks access to related records for the purpose of investigating mismanagement or breaches of fiduciary duty by Cigna’s directors and officers.
