A high-stakes legal battle over the $34.6 billion deal that would combine two of the nation’s top three oilfield services providers is set to play out in Wilmington, after the U.S. Department of Justice sued last week to enjoin the merger of Halliburton Co. and Baker Hughes Inc.

The DOJ filed its complaint April 6 in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware on antitrust grounds, arguing that the planned deal would diminish competition and lead to a spike in prices.
