Judge Fred S. Silverman, who has served on the state Superior Court since 1993, has informed Gov. Jack Markell of his intent to retire from the bench, effective Nov. 28.

Silverman’s career in public service stretches back to 1978, when he began as a prosecutor in the Department of Justice. He went on to serve as state solicitor and chief deputy attorney general before joining the Superior Court bench.
