Despite being an in-house counsel with DuPont since he graduated from Wake Forest University School of Law in 1976, Tom Sager says he never thought he’d be in the position he’s in today. But, as of July 1, DuPont’s former vice president and assistant general counsel is the company’s new general counsel.

Sager replaces Stacey J. Mobley, who is retiring. Sager said his appointment surprised him because “competition is not only from within but also from the outside. Good corporate governance would call for searching outside [the company] too, and I’m reasonably sure they did that.”
