Widener Law handed out its 2010 alumni awards during the school’s 35th anniversary gala at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia on April 17. The school has honored and awarded its distinguished alumni since 1976.
The Alumnus of the Year Award was given to Capt. Robert P. Taishoff, class of 1989, who graduated from the Delaware campus. He is a retired naval officer who oversees the Florida-based Taishoff Family Foundation that gave Widener Law $1.2 million in 2009, the largest gift in the school’s history. Taishoff is a member of the Dean’s National Advisory Council and a strong supporter of the school’s Veterans Law Clinic.
